The Gospel Rosary Of Pope John Paul II

The Rosary of Light
(Said on Thursdays throughout the year)
On October 16, 2002, Pope John Paul II added a new cycle of mysteries, called the "luminous mysteries" or "mysteries of light," to the traditional three cycles of joy, sorrow, and glory. By including significant episodes in Christ's public ministry, the new mysteries expand the rosary's focus on gospel events, explains the Holy Father, "so that the one who recites it with devotion and not mechanically will be able to penetrate even more profoundly into the content of the Good News and conform his own existence ever more to that of Christ."
