Dear brothers and sisters,
I was blessed to experience a wonderful retreat this past week where I felt renewed in God’s light and warmth and rested in his love. In this time in which some people have expressed their distrust of the institutional church, I recommend to you two organizations for your support, first the Institute of Priestly Formation (IPF for short, who sponsored my retreat) who are dedicated to the renewal of the Church through the spiritual formation of seminarians: http://priestlyformation.org. When I was a seminarian, I spent two life-changing summers with IPF in Omaha, NE that have had a tremendous impact on the person and priest I am today. Second, the location of my retreat was Clearwater, FL, the site of the Marian Servants of Divine Providence, a beautiful retreat center and home of a lay-led ministry of spiritual formation, renewal, and healing: https://divineprovidence.org. I would recommend anyone to visit their grounds for a retreat or to support them in prayer.
This Wednesday March 6 we begin the Holy Season of Lent. Please see the bulletin for our Mass Schedule and other Lenten events. Ever Friday during Lent at 5:30 pm, we will offer the chance for people to meet Small Groups in which we will reflect on the Scripture from the previous Sunday, along with questions of reflection and discussion, followed a light dinner and Stations of the Cross at 7 pm. All are welcome. Also, on Ash Wednesday we will begin passing out cards with an announcement of an additional Mass on Palm Sunday and on Easter this year, to accompany our large crowds at that time. Please spread the word! Our new preaching series, entitled “Rebuilt,” will begin next weekend on the First Sunday of Lent. Consider inviting a friend to any of our weekend Masses this Lent to hear our new series.
